US: Hydroponic system inbound for Iowa Cardinal FFA chapter

The Cardinal FFA chapter has been busy this school year with numerous activities and opportunities for members. Students kicked off the year by attending the Indian Hills Community College Ag Day in Centerville where they explored the campus and connected with faculty and staff.

Additionally, members participated in a field day hosted by Iowa State Extension, gaining insights into plant genetics, feed formulation, welding, and farm business practices. Team building has been a priority, with members enjoying a great trip to the FFA National Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The chapter has been actively fundraising, selling cookies and FFA shirts in the fall. Members are currently hosting the Chapter's annual Valentine's Day Flower Fundraiser. Cardinal FFA successfully applied for a grant to enhance its agricultural program. As a result, the chapter will soon receive a hydroponics system, a FarmBot Genesis robot, and DroneDeploy software, providing hands-on learning experiences in precision agriculture and sustainable farming.

Members continue to engage in leadership development, preparing for FFA Week and organizing Ag Day for elementary students. Looking ahead, the chapter will hold officer elections at the March meeting, ensuring strong student leadership for the future. Additionally, the chapter remains committed to expanding Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) projects and Work-Based Learning (WBL), as emphasized at the recent Iowa Agricultural Education Summit.
