Middle East: A visit to Emirates Bustanica

Emirates Bustanica, located in UAE, is the world's largest controlled environment agricultural facility, focusing on hydroponics for producing large leafy greens.

In a video from 60 Sec Scientist, Robert Fellow, the company's product director, explains that hydroponics involves growing plants in water beds, effectively minimizing risks from external factors like pests, storms, and droughts. The facility operates on a closed water system that purifies and recycles water through a Reverse Osmosis System, allowing it to use 95% less water compared to traditional farming methods.

The produce not only supports Emirates flights but is also sold locally, showcasing the facility's efficiency and contribution to sustainable agriculture in the UAE.
