Nigeria: Firm to teach small-scale businesses about digital smart farming

An agriculture firm, Wal-wanne Group, has unveiled an initiative aimed at transforming agriculture by training 500 organizations on digital smart-farming and empowering 20,000 farmers with advanced vertical farming technologies.

Vertical farming, which involves growing crops in stacked layers, often incorporates controlled-environment agriculture to optimize plant growth and resource efficiency.

Chairman of Wal-wanne Group, Dr. Abiso Kabir, announced this initiative yesterday during an interview in Abuja. He stated that the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu's "Renewed Hope" agenda, focusing on economic diversification and youth employment.

Kabir mentioned that the training will begin in June and continue through December 2025, covering modern agricultural practices. The trainees will come in phases to study vertical farming technologies.
