Growy has announced an exclusive partnership with U.S.-based seed breeding company 25:2 Solutions to develop seed varieties tailored to thrive in vertical farms, improving efficiency, yield, and nutritional value.
Unlike traditional breeding programs that rely on genetic modification, this initiative will focus on classical breeding techniques enhanced by data-driven, AI-assisted selection. By leveraging augmented intelligence systems, Growy and 25:2 Solutions aim to identify and enhance key traits that optimize plant performance in climate-controlled environments.
"This isn't just a milestone for Growy, it's a game-changer for the entire industry," said Ard van de Kreeke, Founder of Growy. "By developing crops specifically for our growing systems, we're proving that tailored genetics can boost efficiency, reduce waste, and make tasty, healthy, and affordable produce more accessible. This also strengthens our value chain, ensuring high-quality seeds that align with both market and consumer needs. The future of food starts with the right seeds."
Growy has already integrated the first 20 seed lines into its system, with additional varieties expected to follow in the coming months.
