Native cannabis company Island Peži has announced a new cultivation site in Minnesota called Prairie Island's Cannabis Co. The site is designed for integration with vertical farming techniques.
The Prairie Island Cannabis Campus spans 13 acres and features a range of facilities for cannabis cultivation, extraction, processing and distribution. Designed for scalability, the campus anticipates producing over 10,000 pounds of cannabis and cannabis extracts with plans to distribute both through the Island Pezi dispensary and eventually to the wider Minnesota market. The inaugural harvest includes more than 20 unique flower cultivars, showcasing a carefully curated blend of both new and classic genetics.
"Prairie Island Cannabis Campus is a significant step toward economic sovereignty and self-determination for our tribe," PIIC President Grant Johnson said. "The cultivation site has provided new opportunities for sustainable economic growth and has created numerous job opportunities within our community."
Developed through strategic partnerships with industry leaders, the facilities combine sustainable regenerative agriculture practices with innovative production techniques, focusing on restoring and improving land, soil, water and natural resources. The commitment to regenerative farming aims to cultivate cannabis in a manner that is environmentally sustainable and ethically responsible, fostering a healthier ecosystem for future generations.
