A large vertical farm for vegetables to launch in Lviv region

A large vertical farm for producing cucumbers, tomatoes, and hot peppers will soon be operational in the Lviv region. The plans were shared by Volodymyr Novyi, co-owner of Green Wave, in his article for the magazine Horticulture in Ukrainian.

Green Wave, a company known for growing lettuce in greenhouses using vertical farming technology, is now expanding its product range.

Currently, the company is in the final stages of research to integrate more complex crops with longer life cycles into its vertical farming system.

"Green Wave is not just a vertical lettuce farm, but a production model for a wide variety of products," explained Volodymyr Novyi. "We began with crops that seemed easiest in terms of agricultural technology—lettuce, basil, and microgreens. We also tested a huge number of herbs and decorative plants, including edible flowers for restaurants, which are still an exotic novelty in Ukraine. Later, we realized that many more vegetable crops are adaptable to our vertical farming system."
