Nothing worth having comes easy.
"Every great achievement requires patience. Challenges arise—one after another. But in the bright smile of a farmer, we see proof that every challenge eventually bears the fruit of success," says Parus CEO, Dongho Park.
Innovation in Korean strawberry farming
A commercial strawberry farm in Korea has successfully implemented LED lighting across its entire 2-hectare (20,000m²) facility after two years of testing on a smaller scale.
The farm's owner is one of only two 'Strawberry Masters' officially recognized by the Korean government. Two years ago, his goal was to create a practical and economically viable farming operation. While he understood the benefits of LED lighting, the high cost, installation complexity, and uncertainty about its effectiveness held him back.
"Through rigorous testing and collaboration, we helped him turn uncertainty into confidence."
Validating the effectiveness of LED lighting
During the first year of testing, he was satisfied with the results of LED lighting. However, to ensure complete confidence, he extended the testing for another year before making the decision to adopt it across the entire farm.
High LED costs & energy efficiency
While LED lighting proved beneficial, cost was a major barrier. "To address this, we developed optimized LED lighting tailored for greenhouse strawberry farming, striking a balance between quality and affordability."
"By maximizing PPE (Photon Efficacy, umol/J) and adopting cost-effective LED solutions, we reduced energy consumption by 20%." A smart control system was introduced to automatically adjust LED brightness based on sunlight intensity, further cutting energy costs by 30%.
"As a result, we achieved up to 50% energy cost savings."
Installation costs & service
Greenhouses are not ideal environments for electrical installations, and installing LED lighting in a 2-hectare (80m-long) greenhouse was a complex and costly task. "To solve this, we integrated wiring within the LED system itself, allowing for seamless serial connections."
Innovative installation approach
2.5m linear LED fixtures equipped with waterproof connectors enabled easy connection across 80 meters without additional electrical wiring. Dimming control lines were included, allowing for precise adjustments. Backup LED units were provided, ensuring quick and effortless replacements in case of malfunctions.
The smile of a satisfied customer
"After two years of perseverance, challenges, and continuous innovation, we finally saw the bright smile of a satisfied customer. This is how we work."
"We believe that innovation is not just about improvement—it's about transforming lives and shaping the future of agriculture. And we will continue to take on new challenges."
