Due to the year-round availability and quick life cycles in microgreen farming, the demand for fresh, local produce is on the rise. As more growers enter the microgreens business, managing crop planning and order fulfillment can be a significant challenge. "That's where Microgreen Manager comes in," Spencer Corwin, co-founder of Microgreen Manager explains. "This crop production and order management software was developed to simplify farming operations, helping growers save time, reduce errors, and focus on what matters most: growing high-quality microgreens."
Co-founded by brothers Garrett and Spencer Corwin in early 2023, Microgreen Manager has quickly established itself as a necessary tool for microgreen farmers. With Spencer's background as a former Meta software engineer and Garrett's seven years of hands-on farming experience, including four years running Piedmont Microgreens (PMG), the duo combined their expertise to create a software solution that addresses the unique needs of microgreen producers.
Tailored for growing microgreens
Microgreen Manager is designed to streamline the entire crop production process, offering a comprehensive system that handles everything from planting schedules to order fulfillment. As Garrett Corwin explains, "Our tagline is 'Plant More. Plan Less.' We want growers to worry less about the crop planning and order management process, focus more on customer relations and grow the best possible products."
The software makes it easy for growers to plan and track their crops, eliminating the guesswork that often comes with determining how many trays to plant, when to plant them, and when to harvest. "You no longer have to worry if you'll have everything needed on time to meet customer demands," says Garrett. "Microgreen Manager also has the option to add safety margins to your production volume." For growers juggling multiple tasks and responsibilities, this peace of mind is invaluable.
Practical features for busy growers
"Microgreen Manager is more than just a planning tool; it's a complete farm management solution. Our software works by allowing growers to input their crop, blend, and order information, which it then uses to calculate tray requirements and production schedules," Spencer elaborates. The system generates detailed tasks for every step of the production process, from seed to harvest, making it easy to track progress.
"Microgreen Manager generates every production task required to grow the perfect amount of product on time, every time. You can also add non-production tasks like cleaning and maintenance, ensuring that the entire farm runs smoothly," says Spencer. "Our software interface is also easy to use," Spencer adds.
In addition, the software includes a dashboard that summarizes all relevant information in one place, giving growers a clear view of what needs to be done. It also allows users to add employees, providing them with access to tasks without giving them the ability to modify orders or grow parameters.
A tool for all microgreen crops
While Microgreen Manager is primarily designed for indoor microgreen production, it can be used for any microgreen crop. Growers enter their own crop types and growing parameters, and the software takes care of the rest. For new users, the platform comes preloaded with information for common microgreens like sunflowers, peas, broccoli, and cilantro, allowing farmers to get started quickly.
"Our platform is flexible," says Garrett. "Whether you're growing a few varieties or a diverse range of crops, Microgreen Manager adapts to your needs, helping you plan, plant, and grow efficiently."
Local produce in high demand
The microgreens market is growing rapidly, driven by consumers' increasing demand for fresh, local produce. Garrett and Spencer are excited about the future of the industry, noting that more and more people are starting microgreen businesses to meet this demand. "Business is booming at Microgreen Manager," says Garrett. "The feedback from users has been amazing. They're telling us that the software is powerful, easy to use, and saves them time."
Big plans for 2025
"We focused on building the core functionality of the platform this year," says Spencer. "We're really happy with what we've accomplished, but we have big plans for 2025."
One of the most significant developments is the transition to a paid product. "We've been offering Microgreen Manager as a free public beta, but in early 2025, we'll be launching it as a paid product," Garrett explains. "Even as a free beta, the platform has been incredibly valuable to growers, and we're committed to making it even better."
The team is also working on adding new features including seed lot tracking, inventory tracking, surplus and deficit management, GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) records, yield tracking, sales and profit analytics, and integration with popular e-commerce platforms like Square, Shopify, and WooCommerce.
"These features don't exist anywhere else, and they'll provide even more value to microgreen farmers," says Spencer. "We're invested in building high-quality tools that help farmers succeed in our growing industry."
