Celtic Leaf launches crowdfunding campaign

In the heart of Llanfarian, a village nestled near the scenic Aberystwyth, a new initiative is taking root. Celtic Leaf, a not-for-profit organization, is on a mission to revolutionize local agriculture through hydroponic farming. With a focus on cultivating fast-growing, nutritious microgreens, fruits, and vegetables, Celtic Leaf aims to address food insecurity by ensuring the provision of fresh, healthy produce to the local community.

Celtic Leaf has pledged to donate a significant portion of its harvest—65%—to local food banks, shelters, and families facing difficulties in obtaining fresh food. This initiative is not just about growing food; it's about nurturing the community, forging partnerships with local organizations to guarantee a steady flow of healthy produce, and facilitating local delivery services to bring fresh food directly to the doors of those in need.

The sale of the remaining 35% of the produce to local restaurants and private buyers creates a sustainable economic model, with all profits being reinvested into the project. This cycle of growth and support ensures the ongoing expansion of Celtic Leaf's operations, including the acquisition of essential equipment and covering operational costs.

Product offering
Celtic Leaf's hydroponic systems are designed to yield a variety of crops known for their nutritional value and rapid growth cycles. The selection includes:

- Microgreens such as arugula, radish, broccoli, and sunflower shoots
- Leafy greens like kale, spinach, and Swiss chard
- A range of herbs, including basil, cilantro, and parsley
- Fruits and vegetables, notably cherry tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers

Support needed
To kickstart this ambitious project, Celtic Leaf is reaching out for financial support to raise £5,000. These funds are crucial for procuring key equipment such as light units, nutrients, growing mediums, and hydroponic grow trays and towers. Additionally, a partnership with Diamond Circuits will introduce advanced monitoring and automation systems, optimizing the growth environment for these vital crops.

The contribution to Celtic Leaf goes beyond monetary support. It's an investment in a healthier, more resilient community.
