Interest in strawberry cultivation is rapidly growing in Kyrgyzstan, turning this crop into an important sector of the country's agriculture. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Kyrgyzstan's strawberry exports reached $825,000 in 2023, indicating strong demand in foreign markets such as Russia and Kazakhstan.
The area under strawberry cultivation is expanding, particularly in the Issyk-Kul region, where it increased from 100 to 400 hectares over the past year. Agricultural experts note that strawberries are a highly profitable crop, providing farmers with a stable income. Depending on the season, prices for strawberries range from $2.0 to $11.7 per kilogram.
However, strawberry farming requires significant financial investment and meticulous care. Weather conditions, such as rain and hail, can reduce yields, but good results can be achieved with the right approach and timely planting.
Farmers already involved in this business confirm its potential, noting that strawberries start generating income in the first year after planting. It is important not to be discouraged by initial challenges and to continue developing skills to achieve stable profits in the future.
