Higher yield per m2 with narrow cultivation gutters in new mobile system

The New Mobile Gutter System (MGS) from VH Systems has the main objective of increasing yield per m², flexibility and efficiency for growers. The system offers growers various features to take the cultivation of the crops, head lettuce < 150 grams and leaf lettuce to the next level, according to this post, published earlier in Havecontact.

One of the advantages of the new MGS is the possibility of achieving an increased yield per area by using very narrow cultivation gutters. By applying innovative and advanced techniques, to move these growing gutters automatically, growers can produce more crops on the same growing area compared to existing systems. Resulting in improved profitability and return on investment.

In addition, the new system offers flexibility in various cultivation tasks. Crops will grow the entire cultivation cycle, from sowing to harvesting, in the same cultivation gutter, making it easier for growers to organise and manage their cultivation activities. This contributes to streamlined production and reduces labour costs and time.

New substrate and seeding system
A notable innovation of the new MGS is the use of a new substrate and seeding system. With this, the multiple cultivation gutters are simultaneously supplied with substrate and sown directly. The seeding method is very flexible, precise and done safely. The growing substrate is wrapped in biodegradable paper sleeves, resulting in less use of substrate and cleaner production.

By using minimal, but sufficient, substrate, the cultivation gutter is very narrow. The cultivation gutter is designed so that, after placing the substrate, there is sufficient space for a good water supply through the gutter. It is also designed to prevent tilting during the entire cultivation process. Thanks to the Flexible Germination Box integrated in the growing belts and the use of techniques to automatically widen the growing gutters during cultivation, the system is extremely suitable for a wide variety of crops and makes 100% use of the cultivation area in both the winter and summer period.

Harvesting is also fully automated, and several gutters can be harvested simultaneously. This ensures high harvesting capacity within normal working hours. With mixed sowing, crops can also be packed mixed, which increases the efficiency of the packing process. Finally, cultivation gutters are washed, dried and disinfected before the start of a new production process, making the New MGS an environmentally friendly choice for modern growers striving for optimisation and long-term success.
