Wild Rice Electric Cooperative is donating $5,000 to Lake Park Audubon High School through its Operation Roundup program. The grant funding will help support the construction of a new, high-tech greenhouse at the school slated to be built this summer, according to a Wild Rice news release.
Lake Park-Audubon Superintendent Tim Godfrey and Ag Instructor Janelle Hueners expressed appreciation for the donation. The funds for the greenhouse will not only enhance the learning environment but also foster innovation and forward-thinking among students.
"The $5,000 donation from Wild Rice Electric Cooperative will enable this student-driven project to succeed through hands-on involvement," Godfrey said, "empowering them to develop a forward-thinking mentality and out-of-the-box concepts to prep for real-world issues like food scarcity." Hueners agreed, adding that "the high-tech greenhouse project aims to equip students with practical skills, preparing them for careers in high-wage, high-demand plant-based industries."
With a focus on addressing food challenges, the greenhouse will serve as a learning hub where students can apply theoretical knowledge to real-world practices, she added.
