South Korea: Chungcheongnam-do will build the one of nation's largest smart farm complexes

Chungcheongnam-do will build the nation's largest smart farm complex in the area of reclaimed land B in Cheonsuman Bay, Seosan.

The decision is based on the judgment that it will be a catalyst for revitalizing the local economy, which is visited by young farmers and tourists in response to the disappearance of local population.

According to Chungcheongnam-do, as the first task of improving the structure of agriculture and rural areas in Chungcheongnam-do, a total project cost of 330 billion won will be invested to create a 50㏊ (151,000 pyeong) Chungnam Global Holty Complex by 2026. Among them, the smart farm complex is 386,100㎡ (117,000 pyeong), the largest in the country based on a single complex.

In Chungnam Global Holty Complex, the nation's largest smart farm innovation system with various contents such as production, distribution, processing, liquor, education, and community will be built. Top domestic and foreign companies and institutions will participate in the creation and operation of complexes. KT, Hyundai Engineering & Construction, and Green Plus will participate in infrastructure and construction, while Yeonam University and Bahenningen University will promote international R&D cooperation through a consortium in the Netherlands.
