GetBlok Farms opened its container farm operations in West Aliquippa, located in the City of Aliquippa in Beaver County, Southwestern Pennsylvania.
"At GetBlok Farms, our mission is simple: move farms, not food. "We actively collaborate with the City of Aliquippa, local school districts, and non-profit organizations to provide pathways to Agricultural Technology employment opportunities for the community," says Vinnie Lima, Managing Member at GetBlok Farms.
GetBlok Farms primarily serves the local community through subscriptions, employing the widely acclaimed Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model. Residents, restaurants, and chefs within a 10-mile radius of the farm have the opportunity to savor the flavors of fresh, locally-grown produce.
Education is a key aspect of GetBlok Farms' mission. GetBlok offers a STEM-rich educational curriculum, providing local educators with access to its technology platform and farm operations. From immersive tours to half and full-day educational activities, the farm aims to inspire the next generation and empower them with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in the field of Agricultural Technology.
"By choosing West Aliquippa as our base of operations, GetBlok Farms demonstrates a commitment to fostering growth and opportunity in a locally disadvantaged and depressed community. We believe in the potential of Aliquippa and seek to contribute to its revitalization. Through our farm, we showcase the emergence of cutting-edge technology right at the heart of this community, signifying a beacon of hope for a brighter future."
