Soilless crops and vertical farming keep growing in Italy as well, especially when it comes to vegetables and salad. The 2023 edition of NovelFarm (Pordenone, 15-16 February 2023, the week after Fruit Logistica) will stress once again how indoor farming is the combination of production techniques and technologies that can best guarantee large volumes of high-quality productions for the global population.
Soilless cultivation helps save water and fertilizers and makes pesticides unnecessary. It also frees up the land and leaves the environment and biodiversity intact.
The event will update participants on innovative technologies and experiences. Many seed producers now offer varieties particularly suitable for soilless cultivation and research centers, and growers are committed to finding solutions that combine the needs of the market and the economy with the possibilities enabled by growth parameter control.
When it comes to "hard" technologies for indoor farming, the attention is focused on automation systems deriving from the warehouse sector, cooperative robots (cobots), sensors, artificial intelligence for the management of the cultivation environment, and new fertigation systems. In addition, NovelFarm will renew the attention towards short and medium-term perspectives for the fresh-cut and ready-to-eat sectors.
Access to the event is free. All the information on how to take part and the registration procedure can be found at https://novelfarmexpo.it/
