Rijk Zwaan is once again organizing its Hydroponic and Open Field Demos in the Netherlands this autumn. From 19 September onwards, the vegetable breeding company will be presenting numerous innovative varieties and concepts for both indoor and outdoor production.
At the Open Field Demo, there will be four new leek varieties on display, for instance, plus the company’s clubroot-resistant cauliflower varieties, which have been developed in response to today’s production challenges. During the Hydroponic Demo, the company’s range of striking red lettuce varieties and productive greens will be in the spotlight, while another highlight will be Rijk Zwaan’s colorful Salatrio mixes. Both demos will run in parallel from 19-29 September, with the Open Field Demo then continuing until 14 October.
Hydroponic Demo in Dinteloord
This autumn, Rijk Zwaan is organizing its Hydroponic Demo for the third time this year in the Dutch town of Dinteloord. This is the ideal opportunity for horticultural professionals to inspect the company’s innovative and colorful concepts specifically bred for hydroponic production, such as striking reds, productive greens, and the Mini Crunchy Lettuce concept. This is snack-sized lettuce with a juicy crunch similar to iceberg and romaine, which opens up new possibilities for hydroponic lettuce growers. And, of course, no Hydroponic Demo would be complete without the striking lettuce bouquet Salatrio. This very attractive and colorful addition to the lettuce category catches the consumer’s eye, plus it combines three different lettuce types in one SKU, resulting in faster rotation.
Open Field Demo in Fijnaart
Rijk Zwaan is bringing a range of four new leek varieties to the market, providing growers with more options. Meanwhile, the company has intensified its resistance breeding in all crops to help growers worldwide face challenging climatic conditions, rising disease pressure, and reduced treatment options. The clubroot-resistant cauliflower varieties are an example of this and will be one of the highlights during the demo days. Additionally, Rijk Zwaan is responding to the increasing pressure on labor availability and demand for convenient salad mixes with machine-harvestable solutions like the high-density Salanova Teenleaf concept.
Meet up in the Netherlands
The Rijk Zwaan team members are eager to welcome industry professionals to the demos to excite and inspire them with the hydroponically grown varieties, innovative concepts, and resistant open-field varieties. For both demos, visitors are asked to schedule a meeting in advance so that the visit can be tailored to their personal needs.
